This guide will walk you through how to properly assign a custom domain for your newly purchased website within NameCheap.

Whenever you purchase a website, it will be live under a pre-generated domain. If you wish to switch to a custom domain that you own, please follow the instructions below:

Before you can begin this process, make sure you have access to the following:

How to Add DNS Records for Your Custom Domain

  1. Log in to your Namecheap account.

  2. From the left navigation, click on Domain List.

  3. Find the domain you want to use. Then, click Manage next to it.

  4. Click Advanced DNS.

  5. Find and click + ADD NEW RECORD (in red).

  6. Select CNAME from the dropdown.

  7. For Host input type, enter “www

  8. In the Target value input, enter “s.multiscreensite.com

  9. Select TTL (the default is recommended)

  10. Click the Green Checkmark (Save Changes).

  11. Click + ADD NEW RECORD.

  12. Select A from the dropdown.

  13. For Host input type, enter “@

  14. In the Target value input, enter “35.172.94.1

  15. Select TTL (the default is recommended)

  16. Click Save Changes.

  17. Click + ADD NEW RECORD.

  18. Select A from the dropdown.

  19. For Host input type, enter “@

  20. For the Target value input, enter “100.24.208.97

  21. Select TTL (the default is recommended)

  22. Click Save Changes.

With this process complete, your custom domain will now point to your website. While this may happen quickly, it can often take up to 48 hours for your registrar to propagate these new DNS settings. Please allow for the full period before attempting to edit your settings again. If your website still does not appear after this period, please contact your registrar for more information.
