Posting to Your Website

Once you’re satisfied with your content for the month, a team member will assist with posting your content to your blog. How Word Count Affects Performance

Word count definitively impacts the performance of your blog article and where it will rank on search engine results pages. However, there is no flawless formula to determine how long your brand’s articles should be.

A higher word count only yields positive results when the quality of that content supports the need for a longer article. The benefits and shareability of the content may also fluctuate depending on the industry.

Long-Form Content Performs Best

500 - 800 words per article or web page used to be considered the accepted standard for best SEO results. More current studies are showing that long-form content of 1000 words or more has the most success on Google. The reasons for this are:

  • A greater quantity of useful information

  • The appearance of quality and authoritative knowledge

  • Ability to quickly scan the page for information by sub-headers and images

  • More opportunities to utilize keywords that boost search engine rankings

Things to Consider Before You Purchase

Remember that longer content pieces only work when there is consistent quality throughout. If a topic can be answered in 500 words, fluffing an article to double that size needlessly may hurt its overall performance. There are examples of blogs that perform well with lower word counts.

Interview your client and try to get a better understanding of what kind of content they visualize appearing on their website. This may help you better understand their needs and select the appropriate plan. Additionally, you can start with a lower word count plan and upgrade if there are opportunities to improve results for your client.
