Step-By-Step Guide to Setting up a Custom Domain for Your Funnel With HostGator

1. Access HostGator Customer Portal:

Go to the HostGator website and log in to your customer portal.

2. Navigate to the Domains Menu:

In the side menu, click on 'Domains'.

3. Select Your Domain:

Within 'Manage Domains', you will see the domains you bought from HostGator. Click the domain name or the 'More' button for the domain you'd like to configure for the funnel.

4. Access DNS Settings:

In the side panel tabs, select 'Name Servers' if you're looking to update your name servers. If you need to update individual DNS records like CNAME or TXT, proceed with the next steps.

5. Log in to Your cPanel Account:

To manage your domain's DNS, go to your cPanel account from the HostGator portal.

6. Access the Zone Editor:

Within cPanel, navigate to 'Domains' and then select 'Zone Editor'.

7. Add a CNAME Record:

Click the '+CNAME Record' button in the Zone Editor section and provide the necessary details. For the 'Name' and 'CNAME' fields, use the ones generated in the Funnels app in the DashClicks dashboard. There is a 'Copy' button which places the text in your clipboard so you can paste them as needed.

8. Add TXT Records:

Now, add two TXT records to the domain. Again, for the 'Name' and 'TXT Data' fields, use the ones generated in the Funnels app in the DashClicks dashboard. Remember, there should be two different TXT records.

Note: DNS zone record changes such as CNAME and TXT records can typically take 0 to 4 hours to resolve but are known to take as long as 8 hours to propagate fully.

9. Validate Domain Configuration:

Go back to the Funnels app in DashClicks and press the 'Validate Domain Configuration' button. This should validate the domain, making sure that the DNS records have been configured properly. If they have, then you'll see that the domain and SSL statuses should show 'Connected'. If not, double check the DNS records in HostGator. You can always reach out to our support team for additional help.

Note: DNS records may take 24โ€“48 hours to update across the entire internet. Different internet users may get different results when they try to visit or use your site during that time.
