Step-by-Step Guide to Set Up Your Funnel Custom Domain

1. Access Applications Menu:

Hover over the navigation bar to the left of the dashboard and select ‘Funnels’.

2. Access Funnels Settings:

On the top-right side, you'll see a gear icon, press that to access Funnels settings.

3. Add New Domain Button:

On the top-right side, you'll see a button that says '+ New Domain'. Press the button.

4. Input Domain Information:

In the widget that comes up, input the domain you'd like to use for the funnel. This should be a domain that you have purchased through a domain hosting provider. After inputting the domain, select 'Add'.

5. Configure Domain Settings:

On this screen, you have the option to configure the domain settings so it works with your funnel:

  • Assign to funnel - In the dropdown menu, select the funnel you want to associate the domain with. If you do not have a funnel yet, proceed to create one and then you may assign it from the funnel settings. Alternatively, you can come back to this configuration menu and complete it here.

  • Domain and SSL status - These are indicators that show if the configurations are complete. If they show 'Pending', then the configuration is still incomplete or configured incorrectly. If they show 'Connected', then the domain has been configured correctly and can be used with a funnel.

  • Default page - In the dropdown menu, you can select the default page of the selected funnel. Users will be routed to this page when the root of the domain is visited.

  • Default 404 page - In the dropdown menu, you can select the default 404 page of the selected funnel. Users will be routed to this page when they navigate to a page that does not exist.

Note: Domain and SSL need to show 'Connected' before you can proceed to configure the domain settings. If this is incomplete, you will not be able to assign a funnel to the domain. You would also not be able to set default and 404 pages if incomplete.

6. Configure Domain With Your Domain Hosting Provider:

Continuing on the same screen mentioned in the previous section, you have information needed to configure your DNS settings in your domain hosting provider. Navigate to your domain hosting provider domain settings and complete the following steps:

  1. Add a CNAME record to the domain. For the host and value, use the ones generated in the dashboard. There is a 'Copy' button which places the text in your clipboard so you can paste them as needed.

  2. Add two TXT records to the domain. For the host and value, use the ones generated in the dashboard. There is a 'Copy' button which places the text in your clipboard so you can paste them as needed. Remember, there should be two different TXT records.

  3. Once complete, press the 'Validate Domain Configuration' button and this should validate the domain, making sure that the DNS records have been configured properly. If they have, then you'll see that the domain and SSL statuses should show 'Connected'. If not, double check the DNS records.

Note: You will be able to integrate two custom Lightning Domains for free using the Funnels app. After that, you will be charged $1 per month per domain. These charges will be debited from your OneBalance. Your sub-accounts do not receive any free domains. You can upsell Lightning Domains to your sub-accounts using Rebilling.

If you remove a domain from Funnels, the funnel(s) associated to that domain will default back to preview links and if those funnels were live, they will revert to 'Test' mode.

If your domain is registered with any of the following companies, you can see the respective help docs provided by the company:

Note: Funnel custom domains use DashClicks' Lightning Domains. With Lightning Domains, domains go through Cloudflare's global network designed to make everything you connect to the internet secure, private, fast, and reliable.

7. Troubleshoot and Fix (If Needed):

If you had performed all the steps mentioned above and your domain status or SSL status still shows 'Pending' in the dashboard, go through the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Try to remove the record(s) that have been previously generated by the dashboard and added

  2. Re-generate the records needed in the dashboard

  3. Press validate one time and wait

  4. Use a DNS record checker to verify and make sure you have mostly green checkmarks for the necessary record (TXT in most cases)

  5. Once all (or most) green check marks appear in the DNS checker, go back to the dashboard and see if the domain is validated, if not, press the validate button and it should validate

Note: Pressing 'Validate' multiple times is discouraged. Doing so may change the record information in the dashboard causing previous records that were added to the domain to be invalid. Please make sure that only the current DNS records that appear in the dashboard are present in the domain settings and that old ones that were previously generated by the dashboard and added are removed (this would most likely happen if the 'Validate' button was overused).
